The August 14 Tornado

September 12, 2007 · Leave a Comment

Residents of the small community of Cupar (Saskatchewan) are counting their blessings after a storm ripped through the area Tuesday night, tearing up the serene farming community.

Roy Benko, 38, was at home tending to his everyday chores on his farm when the storm struck.

“I looked up and there were shingles, wood and everything up in the air. I knew right away it was a tornado,” said Benko.

Just minutes before, he was collecting baseball sized hail to show his wife, who was in the family home. He said there were no warning signs. [Global News]

Welcome to the Benko Family website. While 21st century technologies can aid the family in having their story heard, old fashioned human compassion is needed for this family to return to self sufficiency. If you or someone you know is able to help in any way, we’d love to hear from you.

Recent developments, achievements and obstacles are all likely to make their way onto this website – please check back for up to date details.
